Redesigned. Rebuilt. Reborn.

Four years ago, while I was browsing the web for cool domains for sale, I came across 1pagewebdesign.com. I immediately had a great idea to start a gallery website showcasing the best one page websites out there.  I already had a one-page site of my own, which I added to the gallery, and searched the web for hours looking for one page websites to add to my collection. After a month or so, I was getting about 10 good submissions per day! That number kept growing and the following of 1PWD was getting larger.

The site’s design, which I hacked together in a couple hours, stayed the same for all that time. 1PWD design has been hurting for a long time because I just didn’t have time to do it properly, and it wasn’t right showcasing the best One Page Website Designs on an old hacked together WordPress blog.

So, with some planning… I started redesigning it how it should have been. The design would be simple, responsive, and would revolve around the designs submitted to it. I redesigned my redesign at least three times until I felt it was refined.

It is built on the Gumby Framework, SASS, and WordPress.  Using WP sticky posts, and custom post types to showcase single page sites from all over the web. When the site was ready to relaunch, I noticed something wasn’t right. The branding and domain itself didn’t look right. I always felt a domain should be easy to remember, and easy to type into the URL fields, so I started brainstorming…  Four years since I started 1PWD and the one page design trend was still growing. More and more designers were using this type of website… it was like a one page MANIA! So, OnePageMania.com was born.
