Slick new portfolio for/by Cody James Sielawa. Site is clean with a few sample projects and nice intro. He explains a problem in the coding below, and how he addressed. It’s good to see people taking the initiative in coding their site! Nice work dude.
I had some free time and decided to refresh my portfolio. I had a great time figuring out how to code it as I went (I’m not a front end-developer). One thing that I ran into was with the grid and activating a project. It scrolls you up to see the beginning of the case study but then it doesn’t bring you back to the same point in the grid that you were when you clicked the project. I realized this was an annoying UX problem but wasn’t sure how to solve this in development. I thought of a few options to solve this, like setting the popup containers top to be the top of the window when you active it, and then making it fixed… but I started to think that it was a bit over my head. Regardless, I’m pretty happy with what I was able to accomplish! It’s serving its purpose all the same.
